GONE…

The dress; a dark, royal blue, hugged her tiny frame, the length ending right above her knees, with a gold zipper that ran up her spine to the base of the back of her neck. Her tiny feet were bare, her silver heels hanging from her right index finger and her left hand interlocked with his. Her calves were beautiful and the dress, hanging right above them, teased the fair skin she left exposed. Her firm, round buttocks pushed against the not-too-tight dress, a subtle delight to behold. The sand she kicked at on the beach was as cool as the night breeze, and the clouds in the night sky had dispersed in breathtaking patches with stars scattered beautifully beyond the rainbow that had formed a halo round the exceptionally bright moon. She looked peaceful and content, her face calm and reflecting.

He pulled her against him, his hand moving to lie gently on her waist. He feels her beads rub against each other, through the dark blue dress, on his skin and his eyes fluttered open! Again he was on his bed, in his dark room with beads on his mind; purple beads…purple and gold. He hadn’t seen them…he had just known. Hints of sunrise showed in the soft glow that streamed through the partings in his curtains. It had only been a vision or dream, he wasn’t sure how to call it but it had been going on for days – he’d lay in bed barely asleep and he’d see her…sweet-faced, smallish young woman in a blue dress, walking with him on a beautiful night, down the beach. It was always her. He had never met her or anyone like her before and so he found the visions strange. Every time he snapped out of it, he was left wondering why it was he kept seeing her in his quasi-sleep, and also why she always showed up at night. He sensed she was one who found darkness more exciting. He sucked in his breath and almost cursed the day. He envied the moon that profiled her so perfectly she looked like royal dates ripe for picking in the night’s glow. He sighed and got off the bed.

“They are purple,” she whispered. “Purple and gold” she added and looked up in his face; smooth, dark, male. She sighed and leaned into him, lifting her arms to hook his neck. She felt him against her thigh and she warmed up. He lowered his head; inching closer…she closed her eyes, waiting for it. Then he was gone, as the first rays of the rising sun hit the horizon far off. Every night, he came and went. She waited for him, looked forward to seeing him. It was rare to see humans on that side and she feared she had fallen too deeply in love with that one to stand losing him. She began to fade off as the sun rose. As she disappeared into the mist that rose from the waves lashing against the rocks, she smiled, knowing that night was going to fall, and he’d be in her arms again.
